What makes a traditional wedding? Maybe you think of things like, the Bride is in all white and her bridesmaids are wearing the same dress. Maybe you envision a white chapel with lots of white decor. The bridal bouquet may be a one-color, clean arrangement. You might think of cake cutting and a garter toss. All of these things typically do make up the quintessential traditional wedding. On the other hand, what do you imagine when you think of a “modern wedding”? You might think of a monochromatic color palette, on-trend florals, or a very contemporary venue. Despite how minimal or lavish these weddings are, they tend to focus on the couple and have lots of elements personal to the couple. Examples could be: an ice cream bar for dessert rather than cake or including your furry four-legged baby in the ceremony.
So, how might one blend these two distinct wedding styles? The vision for this wedding was to marry traditional wedding elements with a warm romantic modern vibe. The Bride wore a traditional white wedding dress with non-traditional puffy sleeves. Her bridesmaids were in non-traditional bridesmaid dresses- with a variety of style and color. The color palette created a warm, soft boho feel along with the floral arrangements. They chose a white chapel that wedding dreams are made of. However, the decor was atypical to traditional aesthetic.
While you’re planning, maybe you feel stuck in between wanting loose/organic floral arrangements but you still desire some traditional elements. Or maybe you are leaning more toward a very traditional style but love the idea of a bright and bold color palette. The good news is — you can do both! You can have your cake and eat it too! This is an example of a blend between traditional and modern! Be inspired!
